Preventive Care
Preventive Care
Preventative care is vital in maintaining and improving your overall dental health. The ultimate benefit when establishing preventative care is the reduction in dental decay, gum disease and tooth loss.
These conditions, if left untreated, do not just affect your dental health but your overall well being. Preventative care starts by attending your dentist on a regular basis as recommended and following their advice for at home care. Your dentist may also recommend preventative treatments, such as:
- Placements of Fissure Sealants - this is when a thin layer of sealant is applied to the fissures (groves) of your molar teeth. This acts as a shield against food and bacteria getting trapped in these fissures which can lead to tooth decay.
- Application of Fluoride - this can be applied to any surface of your teeth to help prevent tooth decay. Fluoride fortifies the teeth through remineralisation of the tooth's enamel.
